Personally I never thought I would be into programming but I had the dream to make the game so I persisted my best! Learning the basics was super boooooring. Many times Ive been trying to implent something myself just finding out finally, that there is pretty much ready method for that. Its actually amazing how much heavy lifting Unity does for you, if you just know what kind of "tools" there is to use. Also try to get familiar with Unitys class library. I only needed two times to ask help because I didnt find anyone having similar problem before. įor problems I always pretty much use google and usually something similar has been done in Unity Answers, stackoverflow and such and then think throu the solutions. I think best programming tutorials for Unity is from Sebastian Lague. I went throu some of the Unity lesson and started doing the game. I also really wanted to have 100%.Īfter that it was very easy to go from Java to C#. Also you really have to pass atleast 85% to go to the next weeks, so you really have to understand and pass the assigments. I think this course was alot better than any of Codeacademy stuff I checked throu. The first few weeks was super easy of that course, but then its get harder. That is still there, not sure how outdated it is, its that 2013 Programming with Java. It was Java and it last 6 weeks (took me like 2.5 months, because some of the assigments were hard). I started programming going throu one free online mooc course from University of Helsinki. Np, I received so much from the community so if I can give something back and help its always nice. Here is my pixelart timelapse made with Krita: I used it just for making tilesets and Its definitely best program for that. Especially if you have expirience on Photoshop the transition is pretty easy.įor the 1% I use PyxelEdit. It might be overwhelming at start but its not that hard imho. Its amazing (also free), not exactly designed for pixelart but it works for me great! (has few pixelart brushes). Best motivational has been for me to watch other people playing my game and hearing them laught alot of the exitement!įor art I use 99% of the time Krita. Get the game playable as soon as possible and get some feedback from your friends and non-friends alike. Anyway try to make small goals / steps everyday and you will finally get it done :) I think for me would have been better to make & finish some smaller projects first. This time includes learning to make pixel art and programming (from pretty much ground zero level). This game is actually my first game ever and ive been working it like 4 years. This project has been way too ambitious for me. You can see that the waves arent "perfect" but in fast action shooting game, I think nobody will be looking that closely. Finally it worked better than I expected. When I was animating the first wave, it worked but I was worried how it would work with many of them Then slowly transform it higher and destroy when animation is done. Then I instantiated the "anti"wave on top of the water sprite on the position where the hit occured. The waves are round masks, that I animated to move (& scale) in "wavey" motion. I really dont know any shader programming so I had to invent some other way. I definitely will try bigger vertical white splashes! Wow thats actually good idea! Thanks!!
